What is the class structure like?

Every morning, students participate in a 2-hour live lesson that consists of 20% video explanation mixed with 80% team implementation competitions. We have a mission to build lessons that are beyond engaging and keep students on the edge of their seats. During lunch break, students have completely unrestricted time. Every afternoon, students participate in a 2-hour guided team session where students work as a team to complete a challenge that implements the new knowledge. Each week has its own championship that students will work towards as a team. At the end of the week, the championships will be run and live streamed for anyone to watch. Although not required, students can work on their AI models outside of class time for the weekly competition. Throughout every session, there will be TAs on hand ready to answer any questions students have and assist with issues.

How are races held in Formula AI?

Our system allows student to build and train AI models locally and then test them on various racetracks on our application. During the weekly competition, students will run their AI models through a series of rounds, allowing them to earn points on the overall leaderboard. Although competitions are team based, every student builds and trains their own AI model. Scoring is calculated based on the performance of every member on the team. Models cannot be shared and must be independently produced. In the final week, a national championship will be held where students will be allowed to use any method to compete in the final competition. At the end, points will be totalled and awards will be handed out. Reach out if you need any clarifications!
